A brief. A budget. A team of creatives to work with. 72U gave me these things and much more. The result: the Dear Neighbor campaign, which used murals to give a voice to unhoused residents of Los Angeles, amplified them to the city of Los Angeles through huge and colorful murals, and spread the message of supportive housing.
Selling tickets. Tearing tickets. Popping popcorn. In an ordinary theatre, these tasks would amount to a pretty pedantic occupation. At the Film Center, they were a front row seat to the local and international film scene. I introduced guest speakers, facilitated fundraising events, and mingled with the filmmakers, students and volunteers who make the Chicago film scene special.
Jeff Woelker, founder of the Underground Donut Tour, wanted to do something different; a new tour to highlight local street art and graffiti in Chicago. I helped him make it a reality by researching local artists, finding a route, drawing a map, writing the script, cracking the jokes and leading the tours.
